The Art Library of the State Russian Museum is located in the central part of Mikhailovsky Palace, near the main staircase. The first record of the Library was found in the Statutes of the Russian Museum of Emperor Alexander III in 1897.

In January the 7th, 1868, on Nevsky prospect in house # 54 a bookstore
and library were opened. The close vicinity with the Imperial
Public Library did not prevent from its rapid popularity among
Saint Petersburg's educated people. The library deserved to be

One of the first libraries for children was open in Petrograd
in 1921, in 1924 the library got its name after the greatest Russian
poet Alexander Pushkin. In 1977 the library moved to a new premises
at 33 Bolshaja Morskaja Street. Not far from the library there
